Set shipping
Step 3 of 5 on the path to your first sale. Shipping rates are the delivery options a shopper picks from at checkout. Until you add at least one rate, there’s nothing for checkout to charge for delivery — so this step matters even if you plan to ship free.
Add a rate
- Go to Settings → Shipping.
- Click Add rate.
- Give it a label (what the shopper sees, e.g. Standard shipping), an amount (e.g. $6.00), and optionally a cart-subtotal range that decides when the rate applies.
- Save. New rates are enabled and immediately offered at checkout.
The Shipping page lists every rate with its amount and subtotal range, an enabled / disabled toggle, and up/down controls to set the order shoppers see them in.
Common setups
- One flat rate. Add a single Standard shipping rate with no subtotal bounds — every order is charged the same amount.
- Free shipping over a threshold. Use the cart-subtotal range. For Acme Botanicals: a Standard shipping rate of $6.00 for subtotals up to $50, plus a Free shipping rate of $0.00 for subtotals $50 and over. A shopper whose cart crosses $50 sees free shipping automatically.
- Tiered by cart size. Add several rates with adjoining subtotal ranges to charge more for larger orders.
Why this can’t be skipped. With no enabled rate, a sub-threshold order has no delivery charge to apply. Add at least one rate before you test checkout, or orders may ship for free by accident.
Carrier accounts (optional)
If you’d rather buy real labels and quote live carrier rates at fulfillment time, connect your carrier account under Settings → Integrations → Shipping. Standard parcel shipping works out of the box; heavy or freight (LTL) shipping is a separate capability your operator enables. The flat rates above are all you need to take your first order.
